I am only on book 1 and I cant stop thinking about it, and I read it every chance I get! I'm thinking that I would like to attend Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry, .... is that healthy? Aren't we all trying to find something to escape the drudgery of real life? Maybe my philosophy of life is totally F***** up. Shouldn't I exist in a world that I would want to live in, regardless of other possibilities? Well until the answers to life are published in paperback and until Dumbledore is elected President I guess I will continue to search for escapism. Go America!

In another effort to fill my empty void, I bought a new mobile phone--Nokia 6200. This weekend in a lazy stupor that can only be American-made, I watched the movie "Little Buddha", starring Academy Award winning actor Keanu Reeves, playing Siddhartha, along with Bridget Fonda, niece of Hanoi Jane Fonda, playing the mother of a little blond boy from Seattle who is picked, along with three other children, to be the reincarnation of Lama Dorje. UGH. Shoot me. If I had had a fork within reach, I would have used it. i never knew that there was NOTHING that hollywood couldnt cheapen. But I of course share the blame, since I watched it.

Hollywood has however, created the first gay dating show ever!...to be aired tonight on the Bravo network. The fun part of the show is that among the gay men competing for the love of the main star, are a handful of straight men who are pretending to be gay! As if straight women didnt have enough problems with straight men. So I guess in the end, Hollywood may be in the business of denigrating just about everything, but they are pushing the social acceptance of gays and lesbians....so I guess there is a silver lining to every cloud----even Jessica's rant about an author who she HAS NEVER READ.(if you want to see a narcissistic book click here, or here) Maybe we shouldn't rely on second hand sources to tell us how to think. :-) But I still love you dearly Jessica. To prove this, I will bitch about how the Bush administration is abandoning funding for the Conservation Trust Fund. Little bastards. There is nothing wrong with the government buying land to preserve it for future generations. One of the biggest problems with the Republican party is that they see all environmental concerns as trojan horse for socialism.

So the past few mornings ive been waking up to Shania Twain's Up! album. I know she's not the most complex artist of all time, but her self affirming feminism is wonderfully uplifting in the morning---"I know I sound serious, and baby I am.....you're a fine piece of real estate and I'm gonna get me some man!"

You know I was thinking, of all the people with alot of hot air and the ability to rant, why doesn't alex have a blog?

For all you bleeding hearts, I'm sure you'll all be very happy to know that I am currently reading TREASON by Ann Coulter. Its a wonderful book about how liberals should never be placed in positions of power in the arena of foreign affairs. It's a little known fact that in 1995 the government released thousands of decrypted Soviet cable messages that we had been collecting since the end of WWII. These cables proved the the majority of the accusations that Sen. McCarthy made in his hearings were actually TRUE, including the accusation by Whittaker Chambers that Alger Hiss was indeed a spy, despite years and years of denials by Hiss and his defenders. In case you dont know, Hiss was the Assistant to the Secretary of State under FDR, who in addition to attending the Yalta Conference also helped setup the UN. In addition the cables prove that Harry Dexter White, the assistant secretary of the Treasury was also a Soviet spy who worked to prevent loan money from going to Nationalist China. We all know how well Mao worked out--(he killed more than 40 million people).
But in an effort to balance out my media input, I am also reading Howard Zinn's *A People's History of the United States*. I've been reading way too much non-fiction lately. Does anyone know any good fiction?--other than the Iliad?

On a lighter note, my dad got me a gift certificate for my birthday to the Sharper Image. The only thing I could find was the Turbo Groomer (aka nose hair trimmer)--I am getting old. My mom bought me some Tevas and the Harry Potter book set. Eric bought me a camp stove and made me a cake from scratch (how sweet!).

Does anyone else get these really annoying calls from Gtown asking for money? Pa--leeeeze. My donation is the $200 I send to Sallie Mae every frickin month for the next 90 years!

Oh Jessica, if youre tired of moldy yogurt, you should start buying Nourish! This stuff is great. Its made by Yoplait (spelling?) --its sorta like a yogurt smoothy in a bottle---i'm totally hooked.
Good lord my life has become so damn "middle class"... Maybe I should rethink my plans to buy a Volvo :-(
Back to work---- as my friend told me "serenity now".

Eric's sister, brother in law, and their 3 month old baby came to stay with Eric for a week to see DC and NYC (they're from Montana). On Monday Eric babysat the little boy at my apartment while his sister and brother were visiting the museums. The baby was just insanely adorable. I couldn't stop staring at him. I felt this primal desire to procreate surge up through me, and it hasnt left since. I want kids so badly now. It's a damn shame that Eric doesn't have a uterus! But I am determined to have kids of my own genetic material. No one ever said life was easy!

Ya we may have free will, but instincts are usually more powerful.

Is it wrong to want four children? Well I don't care. AND I want to drive them around in a huge SUV. Ya they may be more dangerous to the *other* person in an accident, but frankly my children's safety is more important to me, and the fact is that SUVs are safer for their passengers! (instinct again)

Being the extreme Lemming that I am, I decided that I should start an online log of my psychotic ramblings (aka blog), after I read my friend Sarah's ramblings.
